How to Deal With Burnout in Sports

So you’re feeling burnt out in sports?

Don’t worry it happens to young athletes and older ones as wellAnd here’s something a lot of people won’t tell you...it’s OK!!

As an elite athlete, you’re training year-round, whether you’re playing club soccer, volleyball, or just spending the offseason in the weight room, youre putting in the workThen the season starts, you’re practicing every day and maybe getting morning workouts in before school and it’s both mentally and physically exhausting.

Here is the simplest solution...take a break!

Your mind and your body need time to recoverTake a week to relax; don’t even think about sports if you canBy the end of the week, your body will feel better, your mind will feel like a huge weight has been lifted off your shoulders and you’ll even start to miss practiceYou’re going to get back out there feeling better than ever and you’ll be back to performing at 100%I’ve encouraged my wrestlers to do this and have seen it work.

It’s ok to get burnt out but don’t let that be a reason to quit...just take a minute to step away and you’ll come back feeling like it’s the first day of the season.
